DIY: Milk Glass Dessert Cup Succulent Garden

What you'll need:

1. Some cute cups. I found these ice cream cups at Ross for about $4.

2. Valspar Milk Glass spray paint in whatever color you like.

3. Some succulents or cacti.

4. If you're using cacti, you'll need some cactus safe gloves for transferring them from one pot to the other.

1. The first thing you're going to do is wash whatever cups you're using and let them dry.

2. Then you'll need to set up your area. It's best to do this outside because the spray paint needs to be used in a well ventilated area and the plants can get a little messy.

3. Once setup you can spray paint the glasses. You'll need to hold the glasses about a foot away from the spray paint can and lightly spray the glass. The paint in this can come out fairly light but if you hold the glass too close to the can the paint will drip.

4. Once the glasses are painted they'll need to dry for about 20 minutes. So while they are drying we can deal with the plants. You'll need to pull them out of the plastic cups they came in. Now you can use the dirt from those cups you'll just need to soften it. My dirt was too dry to use so I brushed it off the succulents. BTW if you're using cacti, this is a part of the process when you'll want to use the gloves.

5. Once the cups are dry and the plants are out of the cups they came in, you can begin planting them.

6. For the larger succulents, I put a little dirt in the bottom of the cup then placed the plant into the cup wrapping the roots around the main stalk. I used a teaspoon for the dirt. It was small enough to fit in the cup and between the plant and the edge of the cup.

7. Holding the plant in place, fill in the surrounding area with dirt until the cup is full. The purple succulent had a very tall stalk compared to the size of the plant so it leaned a little to one side.

8. As for the little tall succulents that came with multiple stalks, I started filling the cups up about half of the way and made a few indents where I wanted to place the plants.

9. To plant the succulents I placed them in the indents and held them in place. Then I began filling in the areas around them with the dirt up to the lip of the cup.

When I finished with all of my succulents I lined them up for a picture of them together. This is what the cups should look like when they're done. My cups ended up in the kitchen on the window sill right by the sink. So cute.
